The Proud Horse and the Clever Snail moral story

Once upon a time, there lived a proud horse in a jungle. He was very fast and often boasted about his speed. He believed that no animal could ever defeat him in a race.

One day, he saw a snail moving slowly along a path. The horse laughed at the snail and said, “You are so slow! I can run faster than you in the blink of an eye. Would you dare to race against me?”

The snail felt insulted but calmly accepted the challenge. They decided to hold the race on Sunday. The horse laughed loudly, thinking the snail was foolish to compete with him.

On the day of the race, all the jungle animals gathered to watch. As soon as the race began, the horse galloped away at full speed, leaving the snail far behind. He was so confident that he did not even look back.

However, the clever snail had made a plan. He had asked several of his snail friends, who looked exactly like him, to hide at different points along the racecourse.

When the horse reached the first turning, he saw a snail that looked just like his opponent. Surprised, he ran faster. But at the next turning, he saw another snail ahead of him!

The horse became confused and exhausted. He could not understand how the slow snail kept appearing in front of him. Meanwhile, the real snail continued moving steadily toward the finish line.

At last, the horse reached the finishing point, expecting to win. To his shock, the snail was already there, waiting calmly for him. All the jungle animals cheered for the clever snail.

The horse lowered his head in shame. He realized that his pride and overconfidence had made him underestimate his opponent. From that day onward, he learned to respect every animal, no matter how small or slow it seemed.

Moral of the Story

Never underestimate others because of their appearance or abilities. Pride and overconfidence can lead to failure, while cleverness, patience, and determination can bring success.

The Monkey and the Crocodile Story

Once upon a time, a monkey lived in a jamun tree. He was very happy. One fine day, a crocodile swam up to that tree and told the monkey that he had traveled a long distance and was in search of food as he was very hungry. The kind monkey offered him a few rose apples. The crocodile enjoyed them very much and asked the monkey whether he could come again for some more fruit. The generous monkey happily agreed.

The crocodile soon became very good friends with the monkey. They discussed their lives, their friends and family, like all friends do. The crocodile told the monkey that he had a wife and that they lived on the other side of the river. So the kind monkey offered him some extra rose apples to take home to his wife. The crocodile’s wife loved the rose apples and made her husband promise to get her some every day.

Meanwhile, the friendship between the monkey and the crocodile deepened as they spent more and more time together. The crocodile’s wife started getting jealous. She wanted to put an end to this friendship. So she pretended that she could not believe that her husband could be friends with a monkey. Her husband tried to convince her that he and the monkey shared a true friendship. The crocodile’s wife thought to herself that if the monkey lived on a diet of rose monkeys, his flesh would be very sweet. So she asked the crocodile to invite the monkey to their house.

The crocodile was not happy about this. He tried to make the excuse that it would be difficult to get the monkey across the river. But his wife was determined to eat the monkey’s flesh. So she thought of a plan. One day, she pretended to be very ill and told the crocodile that the doctor said that she would only recover if she ate a monkey’s heart. If her husband wanted to save her life, he must bring her his friend’s heart.

The crocodile was aghast. He was in a dilemma. On the one hand, he loved his friend. On the other, he could not possibly let his wife die. The crocodile’s wife threatened him saying that if he did not get her the monkey’s heart, she would surely die.

So the crocodile went to the rose apple tree and invited the monkey to come home to meet his wife. He told the monkey that he could ride across the river on the crocodile’s back. The monkey happily agreed. As they reached the middle of the river, the crocodile began to sink. The frightened monkey asked him why he was doing that. The crocodile explained that he would have to kill the monkey to save his wife’s life. The clever monkey told him that he would gladly give up his heart to save the life of the crocodile’s wife, but he had left his heart behind in the rose apple tree. He asked the crocodile to make haste and turn back so that the monkey could go get his heart from the apple tree.

The silly crocodile quickly swam back to the rose apple tree. The monkey scampered up the tree to safety. He told the crocodile to tell his wicked wife that she had married the biggest fool in the world.

Moral: Don’t underestimate yourself. There are bigger fools in this world.

The scorpion seemed very happy as he had got the opportunity to stroll in the stream for the first time. As they both reached in the center of the stream the turtle heard the sound of "Khaat Khaat". It seemed that the scorpion was hitting his back with something.

The turtle kept on pondering the sound and when he understood the situation he asked the scorpion: "Brother scorpion!! What sort of sound is this?" The scorpion replied: "Do not you worry my friend. I am stinging your back." The turtle said to scorpion: "Why are you doing this as we are very good friends?" The scorpion replied laughing: "I cannot help it as it is my habit to sting." When the turtle heard this he really got hurt. He started thinking: "The scorpion is not a true friend. I am doing good to him and he is trying to harm me.

Now it has become necessary to teach a lesson to this thankless. "As the turtle decided it, he dived into the water. The scorpion shouted with fear: "What are you doing my friend? I will be drowning in the stream in this way." The turtle replied carelessly: "I am compelled by my nature as it is my habit to dive in water." By saying this the turtle dived deeply in the water and the scorpion sank. In this way he received the punishment for his doing.

Tortoise and the rabbit story with moral

Once upon a time, there was a rabbit lived in a bush nearby the pond. It was known for his speed. He loved boasting about how fast he could run and would often make fun of other animals for being slow. There lived a tortoise in the pond too. One day, he came across the tortoise who was minding its own business.

Mocking the tortoise, the rabbit said, “You are so slow! I bet I could beat you in a race without even trying.”

The tortoise, wise and composed, replied, “I may be slow, but I am determined. If you are up for a race, let’s give it a try.”

Excited to prove his speed, the rabbit agreed and the race began. The rabbit zoomed ahead, leaving the tortoise far behind. Confident of his victory, the rabbit decided to take a nap under a shady tree since he was so far ahead.

Meanwhile, the tortoise kept plodding along steadily, never losing sight of the finish line. Slowly and steadily, he made progress. When the rabbit woke up, he was surprised to see the tortoise nearing the finish line.

With a burst of energy, the rabbit sprinted towards the finish line, but it was too late. The tortoise had already crossed it.

The rabbit was shocked and realized that his overconfidence had cost him the race. He admitted his mistake and learned an important lesson about patience, determination, and not underestimating others.

Moral of the story: Slow and steady wins the race. It’s not always about being the fastest, but about staying focused, determined, and never underestimating the abilities of others.

The Lion and the fox Story

Once upon a time there lived a lion in a dense forest. One morning his wife told him that his breath was bad and unpleasant. The lion became embarrassed and angry upon hearing it. He wanted to check this fact with others. So, he called three others outside his cave.

First came the sheep. The Lion opening his mouth wide said, “Sheep, tell me if my mouth smells bad?” The sheep thought that the lion wanted an honest answer, so the sheep said, “Yes, Friend. There seems to be something wrong with your breath”. This plain speak did not go well with the lion. He pounced on the sheep, killing it.

Then the lion called the wolf and said, “What do you think? Do I have a bad breath?” The wolf saw what happened to the sheep. He wanted to be very cautious in answering a question. So, the wolf said, “Who says that Your breath is unpleasant. It’s as sweet as the smell of roses”. When the lion heard the reply, he roared in an anger and immediately attacked the wolf and killed it. “The flatterer!” growled the lion.

Finally, came the turn of the fox. The lion asked him the same question. The fox was well aware of the fate of the sheep and the wolf. So he coughed and cleared his throat again and again and then said, “Oh Dear Friend, for the last few days, I have been having a very bad cold. Due to this, I can’t smell anything, pleasant or unpleasant”.

The lion spared the fox’s life.

Moral:  Do not involve yourself in a bad company or a bad situation else you may end up getting punished for no fault of yours.  Sometimes, it’s wise to stay away from certain situations.

The Monkey and the Two Cats

Once upon a time, two cats lived together. One day, they found a delicious piece of bread. Both cats wanted the larger share, and soon they began arguing.

“It belongs to me!” said one cat.

“No, I should get the bigger piece!” said the other.

They argued and argued but could not decide how to divide the bread fairly.

A clever monkey was watching them from a nearby tree. He saw an opportunity and walked over.

“Why are you fighting?” asked the monkey.

The two cats explained their problem.

“I can help you divide the bread equally,” said the monkey. “Let me be the judge.”

The cats agreed and handed him the bread.

The monkey broke the bread into two pieces. But one piece looked slightly bigger than the other.

“This isn't fair,” said the monkey. He took a bite from the larger piece.

Now the other piece looked bigger, so he took a bite from that one too.

He continued biting from one piece and then the other, pretending that he was trying to make them equal.

Before long, the bread became smaller and smaller until nothing was left.

The two cats stared at the monkey in surprise.

“Where is our bread?” they asked.

The monkey smiled and replied, “The payment for my hard work is the bread!”

The cats realized that their greed and arguing had allowed the monkey to take everything.

They walked away sadly, having learned an important lesson.

Moral of the Story

When you fight over what you have, someone else may take advantage of your disagreement. It is better to share fairly than to let greed divide you.
